The Film Thread

Watched Skyfall on the plane on the way over the other day.

Thought it started well and just got silly. Like most Bond films really.

Best three films of last year.  Dredd, The Intouchables and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.  Liked silver linings Playbook too.  Everything else I cannot remember which either says a lot about the quality of films in 2012 or me...

I recently watched the remake of Total recall which is absolute gash, and another Colin Farrell movie Seven Psychopaths which was really quite good.

Surprised you didn't enjoy Skyfall Rich. I thought is got back to basics; cruel sadistic villain, fast cars, explosions, flames, and good fist fights.
Probably the best James Bond movie since Connery left. Heaps better than any previous Craig efforts!

Well, it was alright, and it passed a couple of hours, but the hype was that it was just the most amazing Bond ever. I just thought it wasn't that different.

Except that was what Casino Royale was like, and it was much better.

Yes, this. Casino Royale was much better than Skyfall.
Outside it's 1933, so I'm hitting the bar

I enjoyed Casino Royale but there were some really dull bits, the poker game included.  I missed Quantum of Solace, which sounds like a bullet dodged and I'm yet to get my mits on Sky Fall but I'm looking forward to it from what I've read.

Question Of Sport was rubbish first time I saw it, but then for some reason I watched it again and enjoyed it a lot more.

Ooh, skyfall again.

It starts with an excellent action sequence....absolutely excellent, then gradually declines - until Bond first meets the baddie it's okay(although the kill the minions fight at the casino is a hint of the sort of w@nk to come).  It then descends into an utterly inconsistent, dull, derivative, pantomime, before ending up as home alone, but worse.

Really,   don't bother.  Craigs Casino Royale was citizennn kane in comparison to skyfall.
