FAO: JP

In Edinburgh. Top end of Leith Walk. Baby just gone to sleep. Got a couple of hours to go out if I want. Thought maybe I should go watch the game somewhere. Any ideas?

You know you're not supposed to leave them even if they are asleep, don't you?

What could go wrong? It's not as if he's in Portugal.

Isn't Edinburgh in the middle of Fringe at the moment? I would have thought that Jim Shady MD's options for something to do should be pretty much unlimited.
They don't think it be like it is, but it do

That's a very good point. Perhaps it's a bit lowbrow for doctors?

More lowbrow than finding one of the few pubs in Edinburgh that doesn't have a student improv group on a makeshift stage and instead is showing the fitba?

The Forest game? Isn't that tomorrow?

If you want a pub that shows all sports then the Cask and Barrel at the north end (bottom) of Broughton St is perfect. It's about 5 mins from your location. The beer's great and the landlord is sound.

I might be there tomorrow lunchtime to watch the Leeds game, assuming I'm not going mad and it is tomorrow lunchtime.

I've ended up in the Beer Keller. Bit loud, but excellent football situation. Loads of high quality screens.

I'd love to meet up for the game tomorrow but we've a family meal booked for 12:00. Which you really shouldn't get me started on. I'm fuming.

Friday night, fine.
Saturday breakfast, fine.
Saturday late afternoon, fine.
Saturday evening, fine.
Anytime Sunday, fine

Just not f*cking Saturday lunch !!!!!!!!

I'm told I agreed to it months ago but this seems highly doubtful to me.

I know the Bier Keller. The border between Edinburgh and Leith.

I don't drink on Leith Walk generally. It's either places that are slightly poncey or places that are full of serious headcases. If you want somewhere child friendly the Joseph Pearce at the bottom of Elm Row isn't bad.
