Christ I can't bear to hear that woman's voice anymore. She read a dead soldier's letter to his family for d-day and even made that sound like a f*cking brexit speech.
The Daily Cut and Thrust / Re: The TalkBack Climate Debate

I know I've mentioned the refugee issues of climate change before, but given the weight people put on immigration this may be a good trigger for stronger political action.

They calculate that the world would lose an area of land equal to 1.79 million square kilometres - equivalent to the size of Libya.
"To put this into perspective, the Syrian refugee crisis resulted in about a million refugees coming into Europe," said Prof Bamber.
"That is about 200 times smaller than the number of people who would be displaced in a 2m sea-level rise."

I'm going Green for this one, as it is proportional representation or whatever you call it.

We all know that brexit dickhead will do well, but as we're probably leaving anyway it is a shortlived victory.

I have been waiting for this thread for years. Glad it is not just me sh!tting it.

Defo need major realignment of expectations to save large swathes of the world from climate impacts (mass migration out of affected areas is going to cause serious problems in itself).

On a personal level everyone going veggie or vegan seems like it can make a big impact so I am transitioning. Swapped from dairy to Oatly milk which is easy. Just chicken to cut on the meat front, but finding that harder to drop than pork and beef.  Cycle to work (and stayed in job for a long period for that reason). Blah blah. But yeah infrastructure and working practices need tackling from above, and f*cking quickly.

There were things in that episode that were not so good, but people seem to be particularly verklempt about that one particular character's story arc and the thing that happened to a couple of others and I thought both of those decisions were fine and made complete sense.

Oh no, I agree with Russ. Good TV.

I see Corbyn managed to get the house to pass a climate emergency. First in the world. But he is sooooo bad and unelectable!

Middle-class people are such hypocritical tw@ts. If you don't believe in wealth redistribution and equality just vote tory and stop pretending. Brexit is a threat to the middle classes and their comfy lives - it's the only reason they bang on about it all the time. Fluffy principles wrapped around a core of self interest.

It's okay. Everyone does it.
