I am too f*cking excited about streaming a pre-season game in Greek on my (not that) big TV.

Heard our Chairman speak! He never does that on our TV.

If our owner says speak to Greek TV, our chairman will speak to Greek TV.

Do they have cameras in Greece or do the Germans still own them and they haven’t paid the bills.

Pretty sure this coverage isn’t going to end well.

Chicago:  Snow blind.

Well glad to see our new keeper is as stupid as the one he replaced.  0-1 already.

Interesting away shirts.

Nice to see two of our new signings combining for the goal. Muric giving an unnecessary corner away and Silva ball watching.

We're managing to look outnumbered all over the pitch and I've no idea where our midfield is.

As Labi siffre (or whatever our manager is called this month) said afterward, it's better to have challenging games like this as it highlights where the problems are. So bravo to crap results!

You have. Often. I think he's not great, but good enough, although he tends to make the defenders in front of him nervous and play deeper.

Cheer up - Cripple Palace lost 6-2 at Barnet tonight and I think our recently released keeper Henderson was in goal for all 6.
Title: Re: Tonight's game
Post by: donnyred on July 17, 2019, 08:27:56 am
Our poor discipline record continues, we should have had a red card at least. Dawson, Watson and Worrell were all very poor. The new kid from City was shocking beyond belief, very naive and definately not ready for the championship as first choice goal keeper. The result doesn't worry me but Watson being chosen in three games so far does.

May have helped the keeper out if he actually had a decent defence in front of him. He made the saves and no one cleared the damn thing away.

Not sure if joking or not but the atmosphere was amazing. Flares going off in their end causing smoke drifts. Whole ground got behind the team.

Just shows how the pc / hse / whatever brigade is killing the game over here with everyone being instructed to sit quietly and applaud politely when a goal is scored.

Awesome experience.

Bollocks. He made average saves, which he pushed straight back into the box rather than wide, over, or hold onto it.

(Though the defence were poor also)

Absolutely. Let the gig carry on past the time agreed by the venue, promoter and council / licensing body so that the first 2 get heavily fined by the latter (and maybe the venue closed down whilst the promoter has to stump up extra cash for staff for going over their hours).

I make typos.  Get over it.  I'm not writing for publication.

The only loss is it gives you an out to not discuss stuff, you can distract by going "look!  the apostrophe's in the wrong place!!  You can all forget the bollocks I spout"

I should proof-read so you don't have this opportunity, but who has that sort of time?

Adomah has been very good to be fair to him. Lots of crosses. We're playing with a lot of energy, even Watson, and closing them down. It's good so far. Silva is energetic, not as good as Carvalho but more aggressive. Semedo struggling a bit. Good performance overall though. You could imagine Lamouchi laying down an attractive pattern of play if only he wasn't here for just the six months.

Title: Re: Tonight's game
Post by: steve on July 19, 2019, 09:21:38 pm
Yep.

Keeper doing a lot better tonight though. Some good distribution too. I think I'm going to be a bit sad when we sack Lamouchi, I like what he's doing but it needs time and some well thought through, incremental recruitment, neither of which are available.

Title: Re: Tonight's game
Post by: DaveM on July 20, 2019, 03:01:57 pm
I went, despite my better judgement as I'd knackered my knee the day before and could barely walk. As I was late getting a paper ticket (am a ST holder) I ended up in a-block which wasn't ideal. Massive credit to the guy who runs the car park I have a space in on match day, who went to look for me at half time and re-located me up with him at the top of b-block on an end of aisle seat (although the steps were a bitch).

Anyway, from what I could see it looked like a really good, tidy performance. New boys seemed good, Silva very Carvalho-esque and Adomah looked impressive and seemed to be hugely pumped up for it with lots of interaction with the crowd too.

@Steve my hope is that with Lamouchi coming in as 'head coach' within a new structure, as long as we are seeing an upward trajectory of sorts, he may get a bit longer (after all, there was speculation that Karanka leaving was more to do with bust ups with some of the powers that be rather than Marinakis himself and MON was always going to be a terrible fit for us if we are honest). Must admit I like the cut of his jib, seems to have the desire for expressive football like a lot of continentals but with a bit of steel and moodiness about him. Yeah, I know - optimism and all that.

Sounds like Muric had a decent game on Friday. Maybe 45 minutes against Olympiacos was a bit quick to write him off?
