The Daily Cut and Thrust / Re: What I have learned today

All things dull and ugly,
All creatures short and squat,
All things rude and nasty,
The Lord God made the lot.
Each little snake that poisons,
Each little wasp that stings,
He made their brutish venom.
He made their horrid wings.

All things sick and cancerous,
All evil great and small,
All things foul and dangerous,
The Lord God made them all.

Each nasty little hornet,
Each beastly little squid--
Who made the spikey urchin?
Who made the sharks? He did!

All things scabbed and ulcerous,
All pox both great and small,
Putrid, foul and gangrenous,
The Lord God made them all.

Don't worry. An African Muslim is unlikely to be winning in France any time soon. Liverpool bit is coincidental. Don't forget they've icke Mickey Owened and keggy keegled, before.

Seems odd that Messi has romped   home to a seventh ballon d'or, when he's not even the best player in France, at the moment.

As the alternative appears to be a Liverpool player, this is a good thing. I would like it to be clear to the best players in the world that if they want the awards and recognition for their play, they need to play somewhere else.

I shall sound the contractual @noodlé‍ alarm, on this for now.

No need. You summed it up perfectly.

The problem of what to do is very real. The alternatives are not easy..  but the system chosen is the most corrupt one that was available and it is plainly not delivering a sustainable EFL. Now excuse me while I go and weep for all those players who may no longer be able to earn PL wages in the years after they have objectively shown themselves to be not good enough to play there.

FFP next, followed by reform of the penalties for going into administration to better protect small and unsecured creditors. Kthxbhe.
